How to Change the Colors on Your Corsair Gaming Keyboard

By Sharon R. Lee

Most people who use gaming keyboards have some version of a Corsair keyboard in their arsenal. These keyboards are usually pretty customizable, and they can be even more so if you're willing to get into the nitty-gritty of how they work.

For example, did you know that you can change the colors on your Corsair gaming keyboard? It's true! In this article I'll walk you through how to do just that: change all the colors or at least most of them — on your favorite Corsair keyboard.

Download the Corsair Utility Engine application.

To download the Corsair Utility Engine, head to the Corsair website and click on "Downloads." The utility application can be found in the section marked "Gaming Keyboards."

You'll want to make sure that you're downloading the correct version for your operating system (Windows or Mac). Once it's downloaded, run the executable file to install.

Open the Corsair Utility Engine software that you installed.

Once you have the Corsair Utility Engine installed on your computer, open it up. The program will automatically load up with a screen that tells you to plug in your keyboard.

You can also manually access this screen by navigating to [Start] > [All Programs] > [Corsair] > [Utility Engine].

Change the colors of your keyboard and add effects.

You can change the colors of your keyboard, as well as add effects to it. You can also create an animation with some of the lighting options. To do this, follow these steps:

  • Click on the button that says "Color." This will open a new window where you can customize your keyboard's color scheme and other settings related to that particular function.
  • The first thing you'll see is a drop-down menu labeled "Effects," which contains three different types of lighting options—Rainbow Wave, Rainbow Fade, and Rainbow Cycle—that will change all of your keys at once when activated (or deactivated). This is not what we're looking for here; instead, scroll down until you see another option called "Customize Lighting." Selecting this option will take you directly into an interface where you can individually select which keys should turn on or off whenever pressed down and/or released again after being pressed down once already (this includes WASD buttons). Additionally, there are several preset combinations available here too: Static Colors 1 through 4; Waves 1 through 3; Gradients 1 through 3; Echoes 1 through 3; Cycles 1 through 3;; Scrolling Texts

Use the lighting tab to select a lighting pattern, color or animation effect.

You can choose a color for the keyboard, or select one of several pre-set lighting effects. If you want to use your own custom colors for each key, then the next step is to set up macros and create custom profiles. This is covered in more detail below.

Choose a lighting pattern.

The next step is to pick a lighting pattern. You can choose any color you want or go to “custom” to create a unique color. If you are using the RGB settings, this will allow you to create an animation with some of the lighting options.

When we say “animation”, we are talking about how the colors on your keyboard may change during use. For example, if it is purple when idle and then goes red when keys are pressed; or if the lights fade in and out of each other like waves in water (this one looks pretty cool).

You can select a color or go to "custom" to choose a unique color.

You can choose from the RGB spectrum: Red, Green, Blue.

  • To select a color from the RGB spectrum, click on the "RGB" button in the top left corner of your keyboard.
  • To create a custom color by selecting each slider individually, click on "Custom" next to "RGB." You will then be taken to this screen where you can select either specific colors or create your own custom palette by clicking on individual sliders.

You can create an animation with some of the lighting options.

You can create a custom animation, or you can select from one of the preset animations in the Corsair Utility Engine (CUE) software. To do this:

  • Click on Advanced Lighting Mode in the main menu of CUE. Selecting this will open up another panel where you can customize your keyboard's lighting scheme.
  • Click on Animation Editor in this panel and then select either User-Define or Preset Animation options from the dropdown menu that appears next to it. The combination of these two options will take you back to another screen where you'll be able to create your own custom animations or use one of Corsair's built-in presets as a starting point for creating something unique.

You can really customize your gaming keyboard by changing the colors!

You can really customize your gaming keyboard by changing the colors!

When you are using a Corsair gaming keyboard, you might want to change the color of some of the keys. You can do this by following these steps:

  • Open up Corsair Utility Engine and go to "Profiles".
  • Click on "My Profile", then click on "General Settings".
  • On this screen, you'll see an option called "Lighting Mode". By default, it's set to Static and will show all keys lit up in white light at once (as pictured). To change things up and make them more interesting for yourself or others who may be watching, select either Breathing or Reactive Mode instead—these options will cause certain key groups (like those near WASD) display in different colors depending on which keys are being pressed at that moment; other parts of their layout will remain static throughout use so users don’t lose track of where they need their fingers when trying out new moves! For example: If someone presses F5 & F7 together while playing Call Of Duty Black Ops 3 zombies mode multiplayer then only those two buttons would light up red while everything else stays dark/black; however if someone presses only one button without touching any others first then all three sections containing them turn green instead because they were pressed simultaneously without any other combinations being used beforehand."

Conclusion

If you want to add some color and personality to your gaming keyboard, changing the color is a great place to start.

The Corsair Utility Engine makes it easy for you to customize your keyboard and even create custom lighting effects so that every time you play a game, it looks as if it was made just for you.
