7 Color Coding Methods for Your Cop n Robbers Color Codes

By Sharon R. Lee

I love cops n robbers, and I've been playing it for years. But there's something about the game that always bothered me: how can you tell who's who?

It's not like the robbers wear masks or anything, so it would be easy if everyone wore a different colored shirt or jacket. In fact, there are tons of ways to color code players in your cop n robber games and most of them are pretty straightforward. Here are my favorites:

1. Random

This is the simplest and easiest way to color code your cop n robbers game. It’s great for games with a large number of players, and can even be used effectively in multiplayer games where teams are not required.

However, random color coding may not be as effective for smaller numbers of players or games that require teamwork (such as Capture The Flag).

2. Everyone gets assigned a different color.

This is the easiest way to color code your cop n robbers. Everyone gets assigned a different color, and it's as simple as that.

For example, if you have four players two cops and two robbers you could choose red, blue and green for the cops and yellow and orange for the robbers. You may want to assign colors based on whose team each player is on (i.e., all robbers are red).

3. Color code it so each team gets a different color (useful for team-based games).

If you're playing a game with two teams and want to differentiate between the two, use different colors. You can use the same color for all of your team's members or choose two or three different colors that are easy to see and remember.

If it's just one person who is playing on his own, he could use any number of colors as long as they're not too similar so no one gets confused when trying to find their teammates during gameplay.

This method is especially effective with games like Capture The Flag, where players have to be able to tell their teammates apart from those on other teams quickly and easily in order for everyone involved in this game type's success!

4. Color code the cops so they all have the same color, and the robbers have random colors.

This method could be the simplest one to implement, but it requires a bit of preparation. First, pick a color wheel. There are tons of free ones online and they all work pretty much the same way: you select a color and it shows you what other colors are in that family.

Once you've picked your color wheel of choice, go through the list and select one for each cop (the police). You may want to make sure that each cop has a different colored shirt so they're easy to distinguish from each other—this is what will help them stand out from robbers later on!

5. Color code the robbers so they all have the same color, and the cops have random colors

This is a great approach to use if you want the robbers to be able to blend in with the cops. It’s also useful when you’re playing with a large group of players and it’s not feasible for everyone to have all different colors.

In this method, each robber will have one color and one color only and that color will be different from any other robber. The rest of your team can have whatever colors you like.

This method works well because it makes it easy for your kids (or adults) to tell who is who quickly so they can strategize on how best to take down as many bad guys as possible before time runs out!

6. The admin pinks everyone else, then re-codes the other players to a different color than pink.

  • The admin pinks everyone else, then re-codes the other players to a different color than pink.
  • Pink is a good color because it is hard to see in the dark. You could also use a color that is hard to see in the light, like blue or purple.

7. The admin codes them based on what time of day it is outside (daytime = white; nighttime = black)

This one is great for games that take place at night. The admin codes the cops so they all have the same color, and the robbers have random colors. For example, you could color code them like this:

  • Cops = white
  • Robbers = red

If you want to go further than just one color per team, you can also do what we call "secondary coding" where each cop's shirt has a different shade of white (e.g., blue), and each robber has a different shade of red (e.g., pink). This is especially helpful if there are many more cops than robbers!

Remember that you have a lot of flexibility when it comes to how you want to color code your cops n robbers game

Remember that you have a lot of flexibility when it comes to how you want to color code your cops n robbers game. You can use the same color code for all of the players, or you can assign different colors to different teams.

If your group is big and there are too many players to fit on one team, consider using a few different colors instead of just one.

That way, each team will be able to recognize themselves from across the room and identify who they are playing against at a glance.

Conclusion

The police force can be a very stressful job. The last thing you want is for one of your officers to get confused about who they’re supposed to arrest or shoot at during an emergency situation.

That’s why it’s important to use color coding methods that are easy for everyone involved. And remember: there are many different ways to do this.

Just make sure you have enough time before your event begins so that everyone understands their roles and responsibilities
